This is a combination of three prompts. Once again, I needed a picture (FFfAW) to put the mlmm wordle and Sunday whirl together. I’m not fond of the outcome, but it’s been suggested that I can post the crap too. Write the dreck out so I can get back to the other stuff. The idea for a story is there from the words and/or the picture, but when I try to force them to conform (use the right # of words, or keep to a word limit) the result is a lot less than I had in mind. I get tempted not to make the links, but then, since I write prompts, I know it’s good to see how many folks are responding and to read their responses. So, what the hell. Another piece of 3 prompt dreck. Wonder how many drecks it takes to get back to feeling like there is something okay in what you write. Any suggestions?
Sunday Whirl wordle 280 words in italics; mlmm wordle 136 words in bold.

He said this country is cruel, mean and pitiless. I loved it at a cost: the canyons and arroyos would leave my heart bruised and banged up.
From the first time my headlights shone off Promontory Rock, I was under it’s spell. The land was a radio always playing a faint melody calling me back.
Like the first time I held him. But, my warm body could not melt his cryophilic soul, just as this place could not move him to ecstasy. Our love fizzled as if a drop of water on mid-day rocks.
Now insular, I sought a space I could feel totally alone. Here, with the demon hot ball of the sun hanging low, I could.
I packed a thermos with tea and china cup and saucer. My boots made muffled echoes as I trekked down Fetal Canyon towards the valley floor.
I had no plan for leaving. (word count: 150)

I don’t think it’s dreck at all! Combining three prompts like that can’t be an easy task, and you accomplished it admirably well. :)

Thank you. I’m a harsh critic and when I’m depressed, I lose my compass about all things.

Dreck? Dreck? Dreck you say?? Nope.
This may not be anything smart or special in your mind, and maybe you had to force or work it while sweating yourself silly, but you’ve handled the 3 prompts really well – and they each work with the other as wonderful compliments, without sounding forced, contrived OR staged. So yeah, hell yeah, is this is “dreck” – please Madame, may I have some more??
I really like the image and the story – careful crafting and you pack quite the tale in so few words.

plenty of plebian dreck where that came from so if you want more . . . I can provide it in buckets full. I know I’m not the best judge right now, so I’ll take your word there is some merit in this, but to me it sounds forced and rough -edged and not in a good way. Thanks for being my cheering section

It costs nothing to cheer and support – and you know, sometimes, even if to our ears, something sounds “rough” – well maybe that’s just what needs to be expressed in the moment – whether it’s “real” or not – as in, truly “right or wrong” or whatever qualifier we choose, well – does it really matter? We’re as adaptable and changeable as the winds, and so, for me anyhow, I’ve come to appreciate that when I try to “force” myself into a “feeling” or essence that isn’t “real or honest” in the moment, then it makes everything 1000 times worse. And why should it be any different when it comes to “creating?” …. maybe the act of creation – pen to paper, crayons/pens to sketchbook, hands to wool – whatever the medium – should just be considered “sketches” – slivers of a moment in time and space – an expression, no more or less – as it is – but I think the “problem” we choose to uphold is that we “think” every little thing should hold great significance and value – and we try to imbue everything with this – when really, isn’t it about just appreciating the mystery as it unfolds – we’re not “either or” yet we try to constantly define and limit ourselves by our labels, ideas and thoughts – and maybe that’s the biggest paradox and “cosmic joke” in all of this?
Anyhow, please feel free to just “write the worst possible junk” (if that’s how you feel about it in the moment) as much as you need to – because you know, one person’s junk is, and more often than we can ever know, another person’s treasure.

well, these are just my thoughts, my understanding, my feelings …. neither “right nor wrong” …. because let’s face it, what do I know? LOL …. so if there is something that resonates with you, then I’m glad. :) After all, it’s about sharing and respecting differences, and connecting in the ways that bring us together …. and because I’m frigid having just spent time outside shoveling and de-icing, as Red Green would say, “keep your stick on the ice, and remember, we’re all in this together.” :)

I added the honest not sarcastic as I have been accused on sarcasm when I make such statements. I don’t know why — perhaps it’s how I put the words together.
Hope you wanted up and here’s some (((((hugs))))) to help.

I never read your words as being sarcastic … and I’m an onion and can read layers and subtexts – even through a screen – can feel the energy – so no worries on my end. Really.
And thanks for the hugs ….. most appreciated, and damn! It’s too cold! LOL …. I’m going to have to don some fuzzy socks and dance around the fire, chanting incantations to rush Spring through the door ;)
And hugs back to you (((((Lorraine))))

Remarkable! To sew together all those words with so few stitches whilst producing a great tale is skillful indeed. Mlm alone had me scratching my head this week

Three in one is tough! I’ve used a prompt to continue an ongoing story and I think I’ve combined two before, but three? Hard.
I liked the ideas – that she loves the place and even when they loved each other he couldn’t, as if that symbolised their future. And I’m not sure I could fit ‘cryophilic’ into any story and make it sound like it fits!

You should give it a try — not every week is as tough, and you only have to use 10 out of 12. I think you could do it.
