we built the wall

between us

words, adobe brick

formed from

unforgiving clay,

baked in the heat

our anger,

silence, mortar

lips sealed

voices stilled

row upon row

we reveled in

construction

reviled

sledgehammer

til so solid

none nor nothing

could break

nor breach

Toads! Today in the Garden we are taking back WALLS.

Mine are built to last, I’m afraid. (BTW: happens to be a quadrille.)
