This week, on song lyric Sunday, the theme is: nonsense. Our host is Jim, Amy Braun, ai love music aisasami the “suggester.”
My first camping experience (and it was quite the adventure) was with a friend and her family on a long weekend circa 1972.
My friend and I were stoned; the trek to Algonquin Park (Ontario, Canada) was made even more surreal when, without provication or warning, the entire family burst into Mahna Mahna. I was being kidnapped by a band of mad Muppets . . .

Mah Nà Mah Nà was written Italian composer Piero Umiliani. It originally appeared in the Italian film Sweden: Heaven and Hell (Svezia, inferno e paradiso), sung by Alessandro Alessandroni and his wife Giulia.
Benny Hill, a British comic, made use of it as background music to sketches, and other recordings of the song were popular internationally.
In 1969, during the first season of Sesame Street, a version was song by two girl Muppets and a shaggy hair male. On 30 November 1969, Mahna Mahna (Jim Henson; later Bill Barretta) and The Two Snowths — originally Snouths — (Frank Oz) performed the song on the Ed Sullivan Show.
A reworked version was key to the first Muppet Show in 1976.
And, as an added bonus: Beaker’s (my favourite Muppet) “mememe” performance of “Ode to Joy.”

I was still in blogland when you responded. Maybe when I come to the library tomorrow for the wifi, I will stop by your blog and see if Merlin and company (among other things) are still chasing anomalies

Funny, too, I was actually thinking of the song and that camping trip not long before I read your post about forthcoming sunday lyrics themes.
