“Does this make me look fat?” Mitch asks, looking sideways in the showroom mirror.
I don’t look up from my phone. “Nah,” I reply in a rather bored voice.
I hate these buddy-buddy road trips, but it’s what I get paid the big bucks for.
We’d been at this upscale outlet mall for hours; I must’ve heard “blah blah fat blah blah” a hundred times. I’m ready for cocktail hour and it’s only 11:33 am.
Check my messages; sweeter deal is a go. Tired of rubber-headed Mitch, off to NYC doing PR for that ghost-busted Stay Puff Marshmallow guy.
A bit of tired humor for Rochelle’s Friday Fictioneers.

Ah, the stories that the near-to-the-limelight sidekicks can tell… From a fat-obsessed rubbernecker to Sta-Puff, the person could probably get a ghost writer (pun intended) to cook up a bestseller.

Well done, Lorraine. The rumor is that Marshmallow Man is the more environmentally friendly of the two. :-)

Dear Lorraine,
Never ask the fat question unless you’re prepared for the answer. ;) Cute take on the prompt.

The “me, me” folks are so self-absorbed, they don’t see the world collapsing around them, one road trip buddy at a time.

Hahaahaaaaaaa! Stay puffed ;)
Great little flash story here … you’ve captured the essence of the boredom, the waiting, the impatience etc. And a delightful surprise ending :) I love the wonkiness of it …. (wonky seems to be my key word for the day …. )

Saw a clip from the most recent installment in the ghost-busters franchise. The grocery shelf is full of minitature stay-puff marshmallow men. Too cute. And wonky. (Great word btw)

I know right – wonky is a lovely and delightful word 😁
yeah, I keep seeing slices of the commercial for a new version or a continuation of sorts …. where now, it’s the “grandkids” of one of the originals or what have you …. totally bizarre …. just goes to show, few if any original ideas out there …. so rehash and rehash until it’s nothing but burnt carp in the pan ;)
but hey, it may be someone’s cup of tea *shrugging*

It could well be that Marshmallow man is no improvement on Michelin man.
