The black cat insists upon crossing and recrossing my path. She sits, lavender eyes unblinking, waiting for the last dash moment to spring.
I scurry into the café, cupping coco for warmth. She waits outside like a dog upon a leash.
Full clear moon rising; her blackness streaking silver. Mocking my movements, her shadow leaps, flickers.
Who is she then? A witch’s familiar sent to cast a spell? Or my raven: a yowl; a purr; a hiss and nevermore. (79 words)

Thanks. I once met a black cat with lavender eyes. She seemed to know what I was thinking . . .
