do parrots have dreams
of what might be
and just what it means
to be raised cage-free
caption capture: Polly want a crack[into an alternative universe]er.
Also brought to mind the Langston Hughes poem:
Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.
In these difficult, challenging times, dreams can to be nightmares. We need to find our dreams again.
“A poet, novelist, fiction writer, and playwright, Langston Hughes is known for his insightful, colorful portrayals of black life in America from the twenties through the sixties and was important in shaping the artistic contributions of the Harlem Renaissance.” poets.org
