He was feeling far too single. “I need a strategy,” he thought. After binge watching romcoms, he developed a theory. Doing recon, he was convinced. Dogs were chick magnets.
Walking home from the dog park, he was so absorbed in daydreams of silky blonds with Afghan hounds; perky brunettes with labradoodles, and sparky red-heads with retrievers, he didn’t notice the Uber self-driving Tesla heading straight for him.
Luckily, someone scooped up all this body parts; he should be out of the repair shop by Tuesday.
He’s been looking shelter dogs on line, and has picked out the perfect one: Fluffy 1.0

Ingenious take on the prompt, Fluffy the robo Dog is part cute and part creepy I think. Nicely done.

Dear Lorraine,
Does that chick magnet thing work for robots. Now if they could only make Fluffy look like a real dog. No need to feed, housebreaking’s easy and programmed for affection. ;) Nice one.

Rochelle

Great take on the prompt. I like the way you took the idea of a robot and stretched it. Having the robot totalled by a self-drive Tesla is a brilliant concept!

Thanks. I wondered what a day-dreaming robot might get totalled by.

He’ll soon be out there looking for magnetic chicks! An excellent take Lorraine.

I do hope he finds the dog walker of his dreams — metallic, magnetic or perhaps even human.

Robots need love too. I wish him good luck on his search. Fluffy is cute but scares the hell out of me.

Yes, there is the creep and scare factor of Fluffy. Fluffy prancing like my neighbour’s dog, excited I’m taking her for a walk took some getting to.

I like your matching of dog breeds to hair color. Fits my perspective. :D

I remember some advertising campaign where the dogs and owners were mirrors of each other. And, one day, we were driving behind a car and I’m still not sure if it was a blonde with gorgeous hair, or an afghan sitting up in the front seat, lol.

First view, I thought, creepy, too. I did view again to make the cc worked, and by the end, I had grown rather fond of Fluffy. Oh, dear.

I really wish they wouldn’t do robotics. millions of people cant get work now. In 20 years noboy will be working because robots do it all and everybody willbe homeless and destitute. If Earth lasts long enough that is!

I remember when the propaganda was that robotics in the work force would free up humans from mundane, repetitive tasks, and create higher paying jobs for those who programmed the robotics. Now, as you say, whole factories are purely robotic.
We have lost the ability to manufacture our own necessities. When it’s cheaper to run the factories by robots, then the jobs will return to North America from overseas. I started to worry about about the robotic take over the work force years ago.
Yes, Fluffy is part of that continuum, but I don’t think she/he is taking a job from a human . . . yet.

Here in the UK, most of the factorys have shut or gone robotic. We have 4.5million people needing work and only 25k jobs available. Now most of that is not robots but self serve checkouts, self serve restaurants do not help.

It’s a grim reality. In the US, the fight is for a decent wage for service industry workers. The service industry makes up the majority of our economy. We really have so few manufacturing jobs choosing robots or cheaper labour outside of the country. COVID points out all the flaws in that. And, yes, self-serve (and soon self-drive) is replacing even the robots.

I liked this, reminds me of the world of Philip K Dick – Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.
I am sure if I walked through the park with Fluffy 1.0 everyone would want one and I would need to avoid the dog kidnappers.

Yep, he might find himself in pieces trying to foil the dog nappers! Personally, I’d love a Fluffy 1.0

A robot dog may not have the pulling power he imagines. Then again, he may have over-estimated his own attractiveness as a robot

Yes, it depends on the sort of woman/robot? he is trying to attract. At first I thought Fluffy in the video was kinda creepy. But, after a second time watching it, I found Fluffy kinda cute!

I’m not sure that “Fluffy 1.0” would work as a chick magnet for me, though he appears to be an automaton so I have high hopes for him :-)
