Thankful for:
discovering patches of green moss breathing beneath quilts of brown crinkled leaves
large paper leaf bags I can only get fully open if I “wear” the bag and punch out the corners
piles of leaves; brittle; holding remnants of resplendent colour; leaf-blizzard as I twirl, arms out, scarf flying
flurry of birds returning to our yard for the winter; recognizing “old friends” among them
apple-crisp breeze with hints of frost and snowmen (or snowwomen; snow-children)
first quilt of snow; clouds of steamy, shoveling breath
Ten Things of Thankful for the weeks of November November 12 to 26, 2018.
And, tomorrow is #GivingTuesday. On the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and the shopping mayhem (virtual and real) of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, think about others. Visit #GivingTuesday for ideas on how you can give back to the community. Pay it forward and back. Give of yourself, your time, your energy, your compassion, your caring.
Think of how thankful you and someone else can be as a result.
Some thoughts on giving and thankfulness:
William Arthur Ward: “Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.”
Mother Teresa: “It’s not how much we give, but how much love put into giving.”
Nelson Mandela: “There can be no greater gift than that of giving one’s time and energy to help others without expecting anything in return.”

You have shared a most beautiful picture through words that become a painting to those who read them. In my mind these have become so many more then TToT.

Thank you, Pat. Those are encouraging words.
TToT is a creative as well as gratitude space for me. Sometimes, the words come out as bits of poetry or story telling.
I appreciate the opportunity to do both granted by the TToT.

Your 10 is the epitome of poetic simplicity at it’s best. Very nicely done!

I heard the “Y” chromosome-accent clearly!
Thanks for the comment — TToT becomes a creative as well as gratitude space. It’s nice to have an outlet to do both.
And, folks (whatever their place within the doctrine) come by and express their comments.

I love this list. You describe the things you’re grateful for so colorfully that I can picture myself in your autumn garden with all these leaves and birds and all.

Thank you Astrid.
You are always welcome to join me.
As I’ve been saying, TToT is sometimes a needed creative outlet as well as the therapeutic of expressing gratitude out loud. That’s why I was struck by the quote: William Arthur Ward: “Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” when I came across it.

Autumn is my favourite time of the year!
I would miss the transitions if I lived in a warmer climate . . . as much as I may complain about the layers I need to put on as the weather chills out the air.
