She sat, cross-legged on her scrounged woven tapestry mat. Incense burned; meditative music floated from her stereo. She tried to calm her racing mind; her pounding heart. Repeating her mantra: imagine infinite possibilities only served to send her thoughts fluttering like butterfly wings. Her heart beat like a captured bird within her rib cage.
“No,” she shouted although no sound left her mouth. “I will not give into it.” Her panxiety wrapped it’s clawed hands around her; engulfing her in anxiety, panic and dread. No reason, no thoughts, no events to create it – just arising, arriving, grabbing her from behind. If an attacker, then self-defense mode would kick in. But for something within her mind, she had no martial arts defenses. Only the hope of mindfulness, meditation, focus, concentrate.
But, the feeling was too strong. She began to pace around her living room; her mantra far away. Then, she remembered what calmed her in the past – she flipped through her playlist until she came to John Lennon’s Imagine. Imagine infinite possibilities. Imagine.

For Manic Monday 2 Challenge: to use the song title provided in a post of any sort.
Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people living for today
Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people living life in peace, you
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope some day you’ll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people sharing all the world, you
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope some day you’ll join us
And the world will be as one

Beautiful pic & post; i adore incense and it’s hypnotic patterns of swirling smoke. I love wafting jasmine, coconut, sandalwood or frankincense incense though the house to consciously clear stagnant energies.

Thank you. I wish I could still enjoy incense, but I am now quite sensitive to such smells. Only citrus is okay. But I love the memories of jasmine and sandalwood!

Oooh, that rising itchy-scratchy-nervous in the stomach, head, chest feeling – ugh – yuck! Never a good thing – but you’ve written about it well. And at least, found a better way of coping with it, in the story – and hopefully, you can also find a way in real life.
Not always easy – but great write here for this prompt – and yeah, infinite possibilities – I’m having a hard time of it myself right now …. so I’ll just “quietly cheer you on”

This is good–I can relate to a time when I had to pace around my living room to get relief from nightmares which were all too real and clingy…I woke from one like that today, but didn’t have time to pace, so headed off to the library: a gorgeous bus ride, lovely day–worked even better than pacing :)

I got the term “infinite possibilities” from a friend. A mantra I need to follow.
