I saw her often
the child we never had
his eyes
my nose
hair mix of light/dark
then again as doppelgänger
of our youth
today, now with child
of own in tow
I peer to see which
traits run strongest
in the little one

A quadrille is a 44 word poem. D’verse poets pub hosts quadrille challenges on second Mondays that focus on a particular word as theme. I like writing quadrilles, by times, as these can be free verse. Sorta po.etic flash fiction.
