Mango — Manghee
introduction, adopting
family, extending
tummy-scratching, purring
foot-sitting, tail curliquing
plane chasing, squirrel stalking
treat loving, circuitous dancing
cautious walker, lead slacking
intense sniffing, sidewalk trotting
sad eyed, longing
deep sighing, lay down resigning
eyes clouding, ears failing
lost in the yard, searching
forever, sleeping

I like some counted short forms…the longer they get the more confused I get.
I like what you did here. Reminds me of our shelter pet…who now sleeps forever.

Thank you — I find 44 words in free verse doable — it’s when the lines, and stanzas are counted and metered, I get confused, lost, and say — not for me.

Meters and Limericks not my thing :)

I can read pieces in meter and limericks with enjoyment — but write them . . .

You are a master of the mashup — no one can weave together as many threads as you into a tapestry cross prompts, genres, expectations. A whole cloth on the loom on your imagination.

You are very kind. Prompts are just puzzle pieces that I sentence together ;)

I thought it might. Your furry friend was such a member of your family. Manghee adopted us as a member of his extended family. He was in so much pain, blind, and deaf that I felt a sad relief at his release. He truly does sleep now — peacefully without the painful dreams he had towards the end.

I remember Manghee. I understand about the relief. I’m glad Sandy didn’t suffer. That would have been harder I think.

great way to present a Quadrille – and interesting subject – I like the “unusual” about this combo and how you’ve paired it – and pared it down to “bite size” treats ;)

Thanks. I laid down thoughts, in a random order — then added a beginning and end to the count of 44. I like quadrilles, but am afraid mine sound forced to reduce/increase to that magic number. Funny how different it feels when trying a po.em rather than a piece of prose. Though I do struggle with word counts, then, too. Ah, a stream of consciousness response — headachy again.

it’s okay to play, and sometimes word counts are too limiting, but then, they are good exercises too …. sometimes though, it’s the subject that doesn’t want to fit the form ….
either way, I like this :)
and I hope you’re feeling much better (((((Lorraine)))))))

Thanks Michael. Do miss the little fella, though by the end, he was in a lot of pain.

I understood you perfectly — great definition of stream of consciousness, by the way!

Thanks. Sorry about your dog. That’s always the worst those last days when they hurt and are in pain. Thank goodness there are so many more they were running and Happy.

Wonderful a dogs life in so few words. It’s like a connecting piece, just by thoughts almost random but not!

You are exactly right — I put down, in a vague order, my remembories of Manghee. Do miss him, even if we only shared a yard, and dog sat on occasion. But he was in pain, too, and it was a relief for him when he passed. I think about that when I miss his presence in the yard.
