Her retreat from the world. Two days hike from civilization – park trail head – cabin overlooked a pristine lake. So clear, she saw the stony bottom; prismatic image of her legs and feet. No cell phone connection, no electricity, no intrusions. She hiked in with the essentials then foraged for the rest. Wood fire to delight, light and keep warm. Her secret, silence space where she wrote. Pen and paper. Visceral, feral, straight from her subconscious. Nights of starscapes; days of whispering pines. She emerged, two weeks later, another best seller in her backpack; nature’s grace in her heart. (100)
For 100 Word Wednesday, week 7 hosted by Bikurgurl. Thanks for another great image prompt!

Wouldn’t it just be. I hope all writers get a chance for their retreat.

Yes most definitely. For some reason I think of Virginia Woolf’s ‘A Room of Her Own.’ Woman for sure need this special place, but so do all writers.

Yes, I think especially women as it can be harder to carve that alone space to write.

Yeah I agree. I think of especially Moms who work full/part time and then often cook and do housework and spend time with their young kids, where do you fit that in? Have a nice weekend Lorraine :)

delightful piece – the retreat to a land mysterious and all encompassing and embracing – and if only in the mind, then hold tight and slip away as needed :)

Yes, it would be nice to slip away to a welcome slice of solitude offering possibilities, providing impossibilities.

Great when the time away produces what you intended it to do….well done…

Thank you — I would love to spend time in a retreat like that — wonderful if creativity flowed like nature.

What a wonderful retreat! It makes me want to hike out with the essentials and just write it down, get it out, solace to be one with nature….you’re speaking to my heart <3

It would be special, won’t it, to find a retreat to write our hearts, souls, and creative minds out. To find solace, as you say, and inspiration in the wonders of nature surrounding us.
Glad I spoke to your heart; I was speaking to mine too.

Perhaps in your new environment, you will find a nice hideaway — a cabin in the mountains with ice cold lake/river and nature’s splendor all around.

Oh they are out here. I actually saw one for sale with an acre of land for $45,000 it ‘just’ needed a roof. When summer comes I’ll go up another half mile in altitude to the Rim. There’s thousands of acres and plenty of cabins.

Sounds like a plan. A plan I envy. No mystical retreat in my near future. Unless it happens all inside my mind.

I’m years away from a cabin. Unless one happens to be an estate sale near me now.

Perhaps a rental for a month (how much vacation time do you get?)

I get 5 weeks a year. By I would member be able to turn to work if I took more then 2 weeks at a time. I had 9 days off and it killed me going back for three days. I’d never leave the woods again. I be a happy shut in. 😃

If you have to be a shut-in, what a place to be one!

I spotted something like a silver of blue in the image. So a cabin near a lake. you could live there awhile off the lake and land

Fish, mushrooms, roots, berries, lots of water — just might be possible (need a few hiked in items probably like coffee or tea)

You can always start with a few things brought in from outside
