This will be the third time I’ve recycled this post. But, it sums up this week’s theme for Song Lyrics Sunday, first crush, first love, just as it reflected the two previous prompts. First song that came to mind, so here it is again, with the same text. I’m either very pleased with it, or very lazy. Smiling.
When I was a jaded woman in my mid-twenties something magical happened. The instant I saw him smile with his eyes and his lips, I fell in love. Yes, cynical me, love at first sight. We saw each other off & on over the next 6 months. I finally decided I would tell him on his birthday how I felt. I made him a book with some of my photography, my poetry and the words to Fleetwood Mac’s “Crystal.” The song reflected my circumstances: first initial feeling, I went from the shores of the Atlantic through the mountains to the Pacific Ocean. To my destiny; to my fate.
Crystal was a featured song in the movie, “Practical Magic.” This is the official Crystal video for the film. A solo Stevie Nicks’ voice has a harder edge in 1998 than when the song was first recorded by Fleetwood Mac in 1975.
Do you always trust your first initial feeling
Special knowledge holds true, bear believing
I turned around and the water was closing all around like a glove
Like the love that finally found me.
Then I knew in the crystalline knowledge of you
Drove me through the mountains
Through the crystal like and clear water fountain
Drove me like a magnet
To the sea
To the sea
How the faces of love have changed turning the pages
And I have changed, oh, but you, you remain ageless
I turned around and the water was closing all around like a glove
Like the love that finally found me.
Then I knew in the crystalline knowledge of you
Drove me though the mountains
Through the crystal like and clear water fountain
Drove me like a magnet
To the sea
To the sea
Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks, Crystal (a to z lyrics)

Interesting details. I vaguely know the song. I dated a Stevie Nicks wanna be singer for a few years. Her songs have a lot put into them

Her voice is still amazing; I didn’t follow her solo career — I’m afraid I’m a backwards time traveler.

I’ve always loved this movie, but never really focussed on this song before. It’s beautiful. Thanks for sharing (again – apparently third time was a charm for me…).
I’ve always adored that image of the boy on the horse backwards :)
