For the Thursday photo prompt #writephotoswan: a piece of doggerel verse – in a sorta rhyming mode – and a short snippet of “something”.
golden was my love
golden was the river
golden was my love
I sailed away
upon the back of a swan
till evening tide did come
then dark was the river
darker was my love
the swan
it sailed away
a golden trail begun
golden was the river
gone was my love
he sailed away
upon the swan
not I then the golden one
<3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
when love was pure and golden
you whispered ride with me
on swans that bear the light
for such love shall never tarnish
in evening-tide’s dark waters
under clouded moon-less skies

I really like the style of the first poem and the piece was also a nice read.

I like the part you call doggerel, with the repeating words and alliteration. It sounds like it could be a traditional rhyme that bards would recite with a lute in the background.

Thank you — every now and then I get hit with the lute urge.
