For Bastet’s new Saturday Mix, we’ve been invited to write a power short: “a story in 100 words (better if less) with a conflict or ambiguity which creates a surprise ending.”

I find my creativity is in short supply, so this might not be very powerful. But at 69 words, it meets the short criteria.

 

I don’t wanna, I don’t wanna . . .

Now, dear, be reasonable . . .

I’m going to stamp my foot til it falls off.

The whole thing will be over before you know it . . .

Hold my breath til my face turns blue.

Honey, you don’t want to disappoint . . .

I won’t go and you can’t make me!

Well, it’s your mother’s house we’ve been invited to for supper.
