For Bastet’s new Saturday Mix, we’ve been invited to write a power short: “a story in 100 words (better if less) with a conflict or ambiguity which creates a surprise ending.”
I find my creativity is in short supply, so this might not be very powerful. But at 69 words, it meets the short criteria.
I don’t wanna, I don’t wanna . . .
Now, dear, be reasonable . . .
I’m going to stamp my foot til it falls off.
The whole thing will be over before you know it . . .
Hold my breath til my face turns blue.
Honey, you don’t want to disappoint . . .
I won’t go and you can’t make me!
Well, it’s your mother’s house we’ve been invited to for supper.
