Linda says: “Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “in/out.” Use one, use both, use ’em any way you’d like. Enjoy!”
If you don’t like insects don’t read this. Like Linda I have ants, lots of ants, year round ants because they live IN our walls. Not outside shivering through winter. Not outside drowning in spring rains. No, all cozy in the insulation looking for the tiniest spot we haven’t taped, caulked, barricaded. Doesn’t matter – they come out of the wall plugs, in between floor boards, through window ledges, along wainscoting, up the plumbing pipes, infiltrate cupboards. All to annoy me. Because all our food is in plastic bags or bins, they gather under things on the floor, so when I pick up my shopping bag and 50 run for it, I’ll scream. If you get the out-layers, the outriders, the out-runners, they can’t bring in the info on where the next invasion spot will be. So I creep around the house, inside and out, looking for lone ants, and go in for the kill. I’m bound for ant hell, I’m sure. Just like I’m going to earwig hell. But that’s another soc.

Ugh, I hate bugs when they get in the house. When I moved in here we had flour moths. They took a good two years to get rid of!
Best of luck with your ants, my dear.

We’ve lived here for 10 years this month. The battle continues. The worst year was probably the one where I practically poisoned myself with insect barrier spray when they tried to take over the kitchen.
Good luck with the book sales! I know my friend bought one, and posted it on face book, so hopefully some of her friends will do the same!

Don’t poison yourself!! Ten years–sounds like you need a professional. I hope you find some way to either get rid of them or learn to live with them. :/
Thanks very much for your good wishes. :) Remember that old commercial – I think it was for shampoo – “They’ll tell two friends, then they’ll tell two friends, and so on, and so on…” – I’m hoping for that! :D

Oh, I’m much more careful — we rent and the exterminators only do the outside. To do the walls would be expensive and I don’t think the landlandy’s new idiot boyfriend/slum lord believes us.

I’d rather have ants than big fat cockroaches. They bring out the crazy in me.

Me too though luckily roaches haven’t been a problem too often. I really dislike earwigs (elsewhere we lived), and millipedes that drop from our attic “hatch.”
